Workplace Noise

Workplace Noise Exposure to high levels of noise can irreparably damage the hearing of employees, profoundly affecting their ability to communicate, interact in the workplace and their quality of life. Damage can be avoided by ensuring that employees are not exposed to hazardous levels of noise.

The Control of Noise at Work Regulations (2005), are designed to protect people at work from the risk of workplace noise hearing damage. The regulations apply to virtually all workplaces in Great Britain and were extended last year to include the entertainment industry i.e. pubs, clubs, orchestras etc.

Employers must arrange for an adequate noise assessment if any employee's exposure is likely to reach any of the action values, which are defined in the regulations. The assessment must be carried out by a competent person, and be adequate for the purpose of identifying which employees are exposed, and provide enough information about the noise for the employer to decide which action is needed.

Our professional, cost-effective assessments will assess the level of risk and identify measures necessary to protect workers from damage in accordance with the Control of Noise at Work Regulations (2005). All our assessments findings are detailed in comprehensive, detailed yet “easy to understand” technical reports.
